DO I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PTSD?

The goal of our PTSD self-test is not to provide a definitive answer as to whether you or someone you care about has a clinical diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Rather, it is an opportunity to raise your awareness about how symptoms that are indicative of PTSD may be impacting aspects of your life, or the life of someone you care about.

The following questions are a short screening scale for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, developed by Breslau and colleagues.

PTSD SELF ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS

  • Do you avoid being reminded of the experience by staying away from certain places, people or activities?
  • Have you lost interest in activities that were once important or enjoyable?
  • Have you begun to feel more distant or isolated from other people?
  • Do you find it hard to feel love or affection for other people?
  • Have you begun to feel that there is no point in planning for the future?
  • Have you had more trouble than usual falling or staying asleep?
  • Do you become jumpy or easily startled by ordinary noise or movements?
