Our Volunteers

Volunteers really make a difference at South Pacific Private and we are currently looking for people with passion to come and support the team.

“I have been volunteering for 3.5 years and I have gained so much knowledge and self-awareness. It’s been a wonderful journey.” – Elizabeth, current volunteer

Our volunteers are dedicated and passionate and the work that they do is highly valued by staff. A number of individuals currently volunteer at the hospital and have been generously offering their time for many years.

At a recent breakfast we hosted to celebrate the contribution made by our volunteers they shared some of the reasons why they volunteer and the value it offers to them:

“I have learned so much since I started. I enjoy having the chance to give something back and to be part of something so meaningful.” – Amy, current volunteer

“This place is so unique. The staff are really supportive and I always feel like part of the team.” – Barbara, current volunteer

“It has been a great stepping stone for me to learn about mental health and addictions. It supports my training and development to be part of this environment.” – Anthony, current volunteer

There are many ways volunteers contribute to the work that we do:

  • Helping out in our PR department
  • Collating client materials and manuals
  • Data entry for research projects
  • Creating information packs for professionals and family members
  • Admin / clerical support
  • Feedback and material collation
  • Events support
  • …and many more depending on your skills, time & personal motivation

Why our volunteers love what they do:

  • Learn about the hospital programs
  • Face new experiences and/or challenges
  • Use existing skills, or develop new ones
  • Support their learning and development or training goals
  • Keep active
  • Support the mission to alleviate suffering caused by mental illness and addiction

We are most grateful for the volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting the work that we do. If you’d like to be part of this team, we look forward to hearing from you.

South Pacific Private is here to help when you or someone you love experiences difficulties with addictions, trauma or with mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety.

JILL: Our treatment centre heals people and their families suffering with mental health concerns and addictions. The expansion of the hospital has ensured that we can continue to do this for many years and generations to come.

Find out if you have a problem

The goal of our self-tests is not to provide you with a diagnosis for yourself or for someone you care about. Instead, they are an opportunity for you to better understand how a behaviour might be impacting upon your life or the life of your family. Use these tests to enhance your awareness of what the problem might be. These tests should be answered honestly in order to provide accurate insight and are a chance for you to reflect upon the current situation.
