11 Aug The Legacy Addiction Leaves and its Impact Upon Lives
Addiction impacts lives, families, relationships, your physical and your mental health.
Addiction is a disease. Sydney Beauty journalist Renae Leith-Manos recently chatted to Lorraine Wood, Co-Founder and Owner of South Pacific Private about how to deal with addiction.
At SPP we see addiction as a disease with spiritual, emotional, and physical components – this disease can be arrested but not cured. The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) definition of addiction reads: “Addiction is characterized by the inability to consistently abstain impairment in behavioral control, craving, diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships, and a dysfunctional emotional response. Like other chronic diseases, addiction often involves cycles of relapse and remission. Without treatment or engagement in recovery activities, addiction is progressive and can result in disability or premature death.”
In this interview, Lorraine Wood talks to Renae Leith-Manos, the founder of www.bondibeauty.com.au who is an expert in health and fitness. Lorraine shares insights into how addiction and it’s legacy can affect families and the ripple effect it has.
