Dedicated Support For Family, Friends And Partners

Addiction and mental illness do not discriminate – they are challenges which confront Australians of every background, socio-economic status and personality type. At some time or another, all of us will have a friend, partner or family member struggling with these issues.

At South Pacific Private, we recognise that family, friends, partners and children form a crucial support network for those struggling with mental illness and addiction. We also know they will need guidance and support themselves.

Below you can learn more about the conditions we treat, and the range of support and programs we offer for family, friends, partners and children.

Conversations with a loved one about addiction and mental health treatment can be challenging. Our experts offer their experience on how to make it a success, and how to avoid common pitfalls.

Support Systems Need Support Too

South Pacific Private is Australia’s only hospital to integrate a dedicated Family Program within our treatment plans. Our range of workshops and programs dedicated to families, friends and partners are designed to equip everyone with the tools and strategies necessary to set clear and effective boundaries, communicate effectively and to care for your own mental health and resolve past hurts.

If you need support yourself or hold concerns about a loved one, you don’t have to carry the burden alone – please don’t hesitate to contact us here.

Our Family Program is offered onsite and online. It is an intensive and interactive program designed specifically to bring together and treat both the individuals who have struggled with addiction and mental health and who are now in recovery and their families, partners and loved ones.

The Family Education Day is an introductory one-day, six-hour course designed specifically for the family, partners, friends and carers of people experiencing addiction or mental health concerns. The course is available to everyone, including those with loved ones who are still struggling, who are already in treatment or who are in recovery.

The Family Support Group is a weekly support group designed specifically for the families, partners, friends and carers of people experiencing addiction or mental health concerns. The course is available to everyone, including those with loved ones who are still struggling, whose loved ones are in treatment or who are in recovery.

The goal of our self-tests is not to provide you with a diagnosis for yourself or for someone you care about. Instead, they are an opportunity for you to better understand how a behaviour might be impacting upon your life or the life of your family. Use these tests to enhance your awareness of what the problem might be.

These tests should be answered honestly in order to provide accurate insight and are a chance for you to reflect upon the current situation.

We won’t be surprised if you have a couple of things to check. We have compiled a list of some of the most common questions other people ask before committing to a treatment program.
